What is therapy about?
“There are no trifles in the human story, no trifling leaves on the tree.”
Victor Hugo
It matters. You matter. The experiences you have had, and are having right now, matter a great deal. I believe, and recent brain research is clearly showing, that having help and company in paying attention to our own experiences can dramatically change our ease and perspective in the world.
Working with someone you trust, who is respectful, curious, smart, funny and compassionate can truly make all the difference in the world. Good times to think about working with a therapist are when you are feeling stuck, lonely, bored, scared, confused, or frustrated; are needing to make a decision; are not happy with work, relationships, or parenting; and when you are in a new transition of your life.
